What Can Babies Do from 3 Months On?
- They communicate with adults in various ways and begin to recognize family members and their environment.
- They show excitement during feeding time.
- They smile when they see familiar adults.
- They clearly express when they are content or satisfied.
- They begin to move their arms and legs more energetically and enjoy observing and playing with their fingers.
- Around 3 to 4 months, babies can hold their heads up with more stability.
- They start rolling onto their backs between 3 and 4 months, and from back to front after 5 months. By the age of 6 months, about 90% of babies can roll in both directions.
- From around 4 to 6 months, they explore their world by putting objects in their mouths. This is an important stage of sensory development, as the mouth has many nerve endings that help babies learn about an object’s shape, size, and texture.
- Communication begins to progress from simple sounds to babbling, typically around 3 months of age.
- They begin to interact and are now active babies who move and roll around. At this stage, they start to become aware of their surroundings and recognize family members.
What Items Are Needed at This Stage?
Clothing
At this stage, babies grow rapidly and tend to get messy during feeding, so you'll need a larger supply of everyday clothes. Comfortable, easy-to-wear outfits remain essential.
Toys
Babies begin to show greater interest in newborn toys and engage more with activity gyms and rattles. They continue to explore by putting toys in their mouths.
From around 4 to 7 months, they are fascinated by mirrors and enjoy looking at their reflection. Toys with different textures are especially appealing at this age, as they stimulate tactile exploration.
You can now introduce toys with more colors, but it’s best to keep them simple and avoid overly noisy options.
This is also a great time to introduce basic bath toys to make bath time even more enjoyable.
